Physinews confirmed that no fewer than five persons
were killed on Tuesday in Katsina Ala Local
Government Area of benue state Nigeria after some
gunmen opened fire on a hotel at Tor Donga

We learnt that several others sustained
gunshot injuries and were rushed to a public
hospital in the area after the attack. The
community was thrown into confusion after
the gunmen had arrived on motorcycles at
about 9 pm on the said day.

The state Police Public Relations Officer,
PPRO, ASP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the
incident to our correspondent on Friday,
said five persons were shot dead.
Yamu said,


“This is following the clampdown on
criminals especially the wanted
Terwase Akwaza, aka ‘Ghana’ and his
gang who have been terrorizing Katsina
Ala axis of the state and the recent
discovery of one Red Scrambler Power
bike, 164 explosives, 2 empty rocket
casings, 2 AK47 magazines, 2 sacks of
Indian hemp, 10 mobile phones, 1 Dane
gun, 5 live cartridges, 20 (5.62mm)
special ammunition at Tor Donga.

“On October 18, armed men suspected
to be Ghana’s gang members rode on a
Bajaj motorcycle, shot and killed three
persons at Hotel Tyosee and two others
including an 85-year-old woman in
their residences in the community.

“Based on information, men of
Operation Zenda who were on the trail
of the hoodlums came under attack.

“Two of the hoodlums got fatally
injured in the gun duel that ensured
between two Military riffles with
Breech number 1971TT – 1211 and
563631 with 10 rounds of ammunition
were recovered.

“They were confirmed dead on
reaching BSUTH, Makurdi.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP, Bashir
Dabup Makama calls for calm from
members of the public and assures
them of the Command’s readiness to rid
the state of crime, while appealing to
general public to cooperate with the
police by providing useful information
on criminal activities around them,”
the PPRO told us.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that the
state Governor, Samuel Ortom, had recently
assured the people of the state that security
agencies will soon arrest the wanted
