Gunmen Ambushed Police Officer In Nasarawa

Physinews:A police officer has been killed by gunmen who ambushed a police patrol in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.


Vanguard reports that the incident was confirmed in Lafia, Nasarawa Nigeria capital by the state commissioner of police Abubakar Sadiq-Bello on Friday, November 11.

Although Sadiq-Bello did not disclose the name or rank of the officer who was serving at the Obi Division of the command, he said the police patrol team was ambushed along Obi-Agwatashi road about two weeks ago.

He described the incident as unfortunate and part of the hazards policemen encountered in the line of duty and vowed that the Police would arrest the killers and prosecute them.

Meanwhile, at least 90 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers have been arrested in different hide-outs in Ogun state, the police has confirmed adding that a total of 45 arms and ammunition were recovered.

Making the revelation in Abeokuta, the state capital, the commissioner of police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the command was successful even though it had a difficult time making the arrests.
