Physinews: Suspected Boko Haram terrorists, at
about 5 pm on Tuesday, attacked the
villages of Kwang and Boftari in the southern
part of Borno State. A statement signed by
Colonel Sani K. Usman, acting Army Director
of Public Relations, said the suspected
terrorists launched the attack on Kwang while
scavenging for food.

However, they were
repelled by vigilantes from Dagu village, a
distance of about four kilometres from Kwang.

In the fight that ensued, one of the vigilantes
sustained gunshot wound on his hand and
was rushed to General Hospital, Uba, while the
terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.

Nigerian troops were eventually dispatched to
the area, with firm orders to deal with the
terrorists. The statement, however, added that
the troops are still exploiting the area.

Also, yesterday at about 4.35pm said Army
statement,  another gang of Boko Haram
remnants attacked Boftari, which is about 15
kilometres from Chibok town.

On receipt of the information on the attack,
troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, the Federal
Government counter-terrorism offensive
stationed in Forward Operation Base Chibok,
mobilized to the area.

The troops encountered the terrorists' ambush
site a short distance to Kuburmbula village
and quickly cleared the ambush to proceed to
Boftari.

However, disclosed the statement, the
terrorists had set some houses ablaze and fled
before the troops' arrival. The soldiers put out
the fire and have commenced a hunt for the
terrorists. The Army also described as
inaccurate claims in the media that lives were
lost and that terrorists hoisted flags in some
villages.

"It is imperative to state that contrary to
rumours flying around some media reports, no
life was lost.

"Additionally, there is no presence of the
terrorists in any of the villages talk less of
hoisting flags as alleged.

"The troops have continued to maintain a
high level of vigilance," concluded the
statement.
